INDUSTRY
To make research relevant to current problems and India's progress, it is critical that solid links with industry and greater society are part of the University's research agenda. Research at Vedanta University should contribute to the well being of the society, and preparing intellectual and social capital for the nation.
Potential Industry Linkages:
Collaborations with industry can include the licensing of technology that forms the core of a start-up company or the sponsorship of cutting-edge research.
The University can establish an office dedicated to technology transfer, trademark licensing, sponsored research, material transfer agreements, and industry partnerships. The University will have a technology-licensing manager responsible for identifying those companies that will rapidly and effectively develop the technology into useful products available to the public and then working with that company(s) to negotiate a license agreement.
Start-Up Opportunities: work with entrepreneurs interested in starting up companies based on University-licensed technology, engage talented students and faculty, or set-up operations in the integrated research park.
Industry Research Sponsorships: grants or contracts from industry which fund research at the University representing a commitment by both sides to collaborate in investigating an area of mutual scientific interest.
University Corporate Affiliates Programmes: In an effort to encourage mutually beneficial interactions between University investigators and their industry counterparts on a more personal level, schools and departments can implement programmes that invite corporations to establish close relationships with the University. These programmes provide corporations with the ability to interact with distinguished faculty members through laboratory visits, sponsored research, access to departmental seminars and lectures and exclusive symposia specifically intended for corporate affiliates.
